First Neurosurgeon to support the Hydrocephalus Association, Dr. Michael Edwards to serve as Honorary Chair of the 25th Anniversary WALK At Golden Gate Park!

Dr. Michael Edwards New Pic

We’re excited to announce that Dr. Michael S.B. Edwards, the first neurosurgeon to support the Hydrocephalus Association in 1983, will serve as the honorary chair of the San Francisco WALK to End Hydrocephalus! This year’s WALK, to be held Sept. 22 at the beautiful Golden Gate Park, marks the 25th anniversary of this historic event.

Dr. Edwards has devoted his career to pediatric neurosurgery as a physician at both the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) and the Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital at Stanford University Medical Center.  He began pursuing his long-standing interest in this specialty in 1977, later serving as Chief of Pediatric Neurosurgery at Stanford. As a neurosurgeon, he has treated many patients living with hydrocephalus. The hydrocephalus patients and families he met have always held a special place in his life, inspiring him to start the very first Hydrocephalus Association support group.

He has formed his own WALK team so if you would like to join his team please do so here and help him reach his fundraising goal. We hope you will join us in welcoming him to our WALK.

Join us in  to raise money for hydrocephalus research, education, advocacy, and community support networks. The WALK to End Hydrocephalus is the Hydrocephalus Association’s largest annual fundraising event, raising nearly $2 million last year thanks to more than 17,000 participants in 42 locations across the U.S. When you take part in ending hydrocephalus, you join a family of 1 million+ Americans who are fighting for a cure every day.
